Male Trauma Institute

Welcome to the Male Trauma Institute (MTI). At the MTI we provide mental health services to male survivors of trauma and their loved ones. We recognize the importance of community and the benefits of creating a strong social support system. We understand the fact that male survivors are less likely to disclose, seek services, and are less willing to discuss their trauma openly with their loved ones.

Our mission: To support and empower male survivors in their journey toward healing by providing direct services, education, and through advocacy. We strive to de-stigmatize male survivors seeking support.

About

The MTI was founded in 2022 by male trauma expert Dr. Debra Warner and. Dr. Crystal Flores. Through their personal and professional endeavors, they recognized a need for mental health services with male trauma issues in mind. After starting a professional conference centered around male survivors of trauma and violence and years of work in incarcerated settings, community mental health, and private practice they became familiar with the unique needs of this population. At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic they started providing direct telehealth services in the form of individual psychotherapy through their virtual clinic. The MTI has gradually evolved to include psychological assessments and evaluations.

You Are not alone

Dr. Debra has devoted her professional efforts to helping men and their loved ones confront and conquer the long term effects of trauma on the male psyche. As a spouse of a survivor she is personally experienced in recognizing the signs of coping mechanisms, and the effects on the sometimes unaware spouse. Using her personal experience and professional knowledge, she authored the book His History, Her Story: A Survival Guide for Spouses of Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Trauma.
